Eating Out

  • The Hawkesbury Highlands is becoming well known as a destination for lovers of good food. The many restaurants and cafes of our area are sourcing the freshest local produce from the famous Farm Gate Trail for their menus.
  • Right in Bilpin itself is the new and fabulous Apple Bar. A city-smart bar and restaurant with a wood fired pizza oven and char grill. Chef, Michael Jaggard travels to the Sydney seafood markets every week to create his many blackboard specials. Boutique beers on tap and an extensive wine list are available.
    Other great places to eat nearby include the one-hatted Lochiel House, dining at its best in a beautiful historic inn.
  • Sassafras Creek restaurant and Gallery in Kurrajong Village has great coffee and the perfect lunch menu.


Walking

Mountain Lagoon features many fine walks ranging from an easy stroll to an adventurous hike.
These include:

  • Sams Way. The loop around the lagoon is a charming 3km avenue past farmhouses and paddocks.
  • Long Ridge Trail conveniently starts right at the back door of the cottage. An easy walk winding through our beautiful local bush.
  • The Colo-Meroo Trail is the official National Park walk into the Wollemi wilderness. The gentle 5km beginning will take you to the spectacular “End of the Earth’. The more enthusiastic can continue on to the pristine Colo River.
